They provide a range of services, from collecting business and municipal waste to recycling and processing, and the generation of green energy from waste, thereby contributing significantly to the Government’s efforts to reduce reliance on fossil fuels. Their aim is to minimise the amount of landfill by transforming it into valuable resources wherever possible. All of their facilities are operated to ISO 14001 environment standards.
At FCC Environment their vision is to be: “The environmental company of choice, delivering change for a sustainable future”. Because they care about what they do and how they do it, you can be confident that their operations are run in an environmentally and socially responsible way, as they work towards their vision to be “the environmental company of choice, delivering change for a sustainable future’.
All those years ago
When we started working with FCC they had a typical approach to recruitment. They used their own website to list the jobs on and used the jobcentre. Additionally, because each depot manager made their own decisions and controlled the budget, most recruiting was carried out via agencies no matter what the role was.
This was proving very expensive and FCC was not being seen by applicants positively, in fact only the unemployed job seekers were seeing their adverts.
We didn’t waste time
Working across all of their regions, we now provide applicant attraction strategies for all of the roles within the business. We work closely with the hiring managers, understanding their needs so that we can be sure that the advert and placement is written in a way that will attract those with the relevant skills for each vacancy.
Additionally, we manage the entire recruitment process for each vacancy so we screen all of the applicants and then liaise with each manager and arrange the interviews, communicating with both the applicant and relevant interviewers.
Tipping the Scales
Each vacancy benefits from a targeted approach to advertising to ensure it gets the maximum level of exposure to the right level of applicant. This includes, on occasion, the use of specialist media to attract specific skills and expertise into the business.
